A few nights ago, I went to bed and noticed that Carys had written with permanent marker on the top of my nightstand. Later, Chase found it on the side of my nightstand. This morning when I was sitting in my "quiet time" chair, I found more permanent marker scribbles on the end of my cedar chest. Then later, Chase found some on the back of my oak mirror on a stand.
Sigh! Murphy's Oil soap faded the marks, but I'm afraid they're never coming all the way off.

I'm so sorry, Linda.
UGH. I can still see the black crayon marks on the side of one of our living room chairs that Trevor drew ~8 years ago.
For the hard surfaces, you might test out Magic Eraser. Definitely spot test somewhere unobtrusively first, and it may come down to choosing the best of the worst--a permanent marker mark, or a slight removal of the finish from the very fine sanding with the Eraser.
