Things haven't slowed down here much since Christmas. On Saturday, the 26th, Greg and Landon drove Gerren to Tyndall AFB near Panama City, FL, for winter encampment. Gerren is serving as the Bravo Flight Sargeant for the week. Another cadet from his squadron is giving him a ride home this Saturday, so we won't have to make the trip or spend the money for gas again. The girls and I went to Citrus Park to do some shopping that day. It's really getting fun to shop with Chase, and Carys was pretty good considering!
On Sunday, I played keyboards with the worship band at Cornerstone for the first time. It was fun to be back in the saddle again, but I'd forgotten how much work it is to prepare. We had lots of positive comments. I'll be playing again this weekend. Then, we'll see what the future holds. Today, we slept in a little and are trying to catch up with everything that was put on hold for the holidays. Landon and Chase are playing wii, of course!

I trained at Tyndall when I was active duty--I remember the obstacle course was quite challenging, especially at the end of a long day. I hope Gerren enjoys his encampment.
I thoroughly enjoyed your Christmas Day post!!! I will have to attend Cornerstone...it will be awesome to see you back on "stage" again ;) You are so talented.
BTW...can you send me your toffee french toast casserole recipe????? Sam's doesn't carry anything like that .... LOL.
I'm so happy for you being on keys again! YEA! How many services do they have?
Oh.. and the toffee french toast recipe sounds yummy.. maybe you can post it for all of us?
Cynthia, only 2 services on Sunday morning - much easier to do than the Springs!
Here's the recipe (my favorite type of French toast casserole):
Toffee Apple French Toast
8 cups cubed French bread -- 1" cubes
2 medium tart apples -- peeled and chopped
8 ounces cream cheese -- softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 3/4 cups milk -- divided
2 teaspoons vanilla extract -- divided
1/2 cup English toffee bits
5 eggs
Place half of the bread cubes in a greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish; top with apples. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugars, 1/4 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth; stir in toffee bits. Spread over apples. Top with remaining bread cubes. In another mixing bowl, beat the eggs and remaining milk and vanilla; pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35-45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
That's great that you are back playing again!
I wish it was permanent. Unfortunately, when the music minister came back it was back to the regular "band" of people mostly over 60.
Oh dear!
Shame you can't play for us next weekend! Our regular keyboard player can't make it. :-(
A trip to England sounds lovely! :)
Linda, what a pleasure to be on the keys and not have a long term commitment at this point on your already full plate.
Your Toffee French Toast sounds AMAZING!
