Christmas Baking

On Tuesday, I mixed up the dough for 7 of the 8 items we'll be baking/making for Christmas. Today we baked a new one for us: Gingerbread Tree Sandwiches. I got the recipe from Simple & Delicious. Aren't they cute?

Then we put together Rudolph Treats which required no baking. :) I got this recipe from the same magazine.

Love the Rudolph Treats! I DO NOT LIKE TO BAKE, so these might be a perfect addition to our Christmas goody tray!

They're both cute. I really have done no baking this year. I wonder....what should I make?

Well, we tried 3 other "new" cookies, some cut-out sugar cookies (which I ALWAYS hate), some twisty candy cane looking cookies (which were awful to make and didn't even taste good) and a slight twist on the Oreo Truffles (basically dipping in chocolate chips mixed with Andes candies and then others in the white chocolate and sprinkling with christmas sprinkles and crushed candy canes). The first two were a flop. I'm sticking to my regular cookies: Vanishing Oatmeal Raisin, Ginger Krinkles, Malted Milk Ball Cookies, and Cracker Jack Cookies. Nothing spectacular, but totally yummy!

Can you post the recipe/directions for the reindeer treats? I think maybe I should bake something with the kids tomorrow.

Rudolph Treats

16 mini pretzels -- halved
16 fun-sized Almond Joy candy bars
16 miniature marshmallow -- halved
black decorating gel
16 red M&M's miniature baking bits

Insert an end from two pretzel halves into each candy bar to form antlers. Gently press the cut side of two marshmallow halves onto each candy bar for eyes; dot with decorating gel. For nose, attach an M&M to the top of each candy with decorating gel. Store in an airtight container.
