Washington DC - Day 6

We spent our last day in DC touring Capitol Hill. The brand new $621 million Capitol Visitor's Center opened this past Tuesday. It was beautiful; you'll be so glad to know your tax dollars are being well spent. We got to tour the capitol, but they don't let you you see the actual Senate or House galleries. Seems like I remember seeing them when I was a kid.

Anyway, here's the family waiting for our tour.

This is the rotunda.

I know some of you will just love to see this next picture! Landon made me take it.

After our tour, we walked through the tunnel to the Library of Congress. We didn't spend much time there. It is a fabulous piece of architecture, though. Carys fell asleep in her stroller before we could leave the building.

We walked by the Supreme Court which is in the background of this picture.

We had planned to visit the US Botanic Gardens after lunch, but we were all whipped and my foot had just had it! So, we took the Metro back to our hotel, had a late lunch, and rested for the rest of the afternoon.

As I type this, Carys and Chase are downstairs swimming, and Landon and Gerren are watching Mayberry RFD on TV Land. We're getting ready to go in the morning. It's been an incredible trip, and we're looking forward to a quick visit with friends in SC.

You all did a great job of fitting in as much as you could. Thanks so much for all the great pictures of your trip.

I'm reading backwards here... Can't wait to read about your trip! We've been to DC 2x and still haven't seen all there is to see!

Linda, I meant to mention that I noticed your hubby's sweatshirt. My sister is a Florida State Alum...many years ago...let's see...maybe class of '81. Anyway, go Seminoles! LOL

We've never done DC - and I am looking forward to reading backwards and visiting it through your eyes.

NOw this is an impressive building and I'm so very relieved that Sen Reid did not have to smell your crew. ::snort:: Sorry, couldn't resist.

Isn't that the truth, DeEtta?! 621 million dollars so they don't have to smell the visitors coming through. I don't think we even saw a senator or representative.
